These are some of the books I read during last half a century or so, and some of the thoughts, questions, reactions and insights, emotions - and so forth -, evoked on reading them, either then or later sometime during the interim years and decades, or even thinking over now, that are summed up here while trying to record my impressions about what I read.

'Tis: A Memoir; by Frank McCourt.
This sequel to Angela's Ashes begins with Frank in US and goes on to the family being finally well after all the trials and hard times in Ireland, albeit in middle class, not in a romantic sudden wealthy life - it is real, not merely realistic, and that gives more of a gritty credibility to the whole story. The first volume did not romanticise the poverty, or even horrify the story any more than it was already a horror, either.
