It'd be a two star rating, partly for the comfortable read, partly for descriptions of London neighbourhoods that make one wish one could visit first say, a year, just to get to know them - but for the all too political, extremely wrong slant exhibited by the author, perhaps at behest of the publishers, in identifying a restaurant or a cuisine as 'paki'. Unless the said cuisine was invented post 1947, and has nothing whatsoever to do with any cuisine prior to that in any part of India until 1947, the term is false, and politically motivated in being anti-Indian, anti-Hindu largely, and worse.
And for all that, the said description was not merely unnecessary but gives a false impression as well. It's rare that any restaurant in USA, UK, or any part of Europe would identify itself or cuisine thereof as paki or Bangladeshi, no matter what the current term for the restaurant owners' country of origin.
If they did, they might lose business. As deserves this book, it's author and the publishers.
Also, author uses some words inappropriately, as far as English language goes. Coincidentally or otherwise, one such word is 'ignorance', which she uses as an alternative to 'ignoring', more than once. It's unclear if author is truly ignorant, or is merely carrying the flag as many in USA seem to, declaring their right to twist and break the language any which way - and still call it English!
