"What is Tandi famous for? It has a fuel station. What is the big deal, you ask? Well, you will not find another fuel station on the Manali-Leh highway for the next 365 kilometers. The next fuel station is at Karu. So, we filled up “Hero”, snapped the signboard proclaiming the significance of the fuel station and moved on. "
"There were small settlements on either side of the road and the interesting part was the way in which these were constructed. It was basically a stack of stones meticulously arranged so that they do not fall apart. The doors and windows were also held between these stacks of stones that formed the walls of the house. There was nothing that I could see that was holding or binding the stones together. And, the stones itself were sourced locally from the hills. Extremely eco-friendly, I must say!"
