Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah; by Richard Bach.

The title is half self explanatory, in that generally those who understand illusions as related to spiritul realm do not relate to messiah concept and vice versa. But spiritual realm is really one, and the concepts are not divided into compartments at that level.

It is a bit like the tale of four blind men trying to determine what an elephant is with their hands replacing the vision, fighting over the extrememly different perceptions, and coming to the conclusion that an elephant is not knowable. If only they could admit their own shortcoming, that of lack of vision, of course - that would bring them a small step closer to realisation.

So much for the usual incoherence of "religions" with rigid constraints.

This book goes spiralling on a poetic flight of thought taking the reader with it into a realm where the various things taken for granted as solid realities are seen to be illusions, shown to the reluctant messiah, the protagonist.

Beautiful. But then again, nothing one would find unexpected or surprising from this writer, though it is a far journey for someone brought up in and with a western upbringing - a flight, in fact, up into the blue.
