The writer returns after a sizable part of his lifetime to his country, bringing his English wife and born and brought up English children to their other home to experience shopping at 3 in the morning and other joys of life, to paraphrase his humour (I would rather not go check the exact quotation for the correct words, it would take too long and the spirit is right) - and finds much more that is enjoyable and loveable in his home country. Walking to a game with his son and enjoying the small town experience, discovering that the country is so large that a reasonable size aeroplane can crash in upstate New England and never be found again, and so on.
I might have mixed up his two books about US and so the reviews might be exchanged - but I doubt it.
