The book itself is terse, and clean, unlike much of supposedly not porn as such genre where the authors are perhaps bullied by publishers or by market concerns into quite unnecessary descriptions.

The end leaves one uncertain about safety of the survivors, but that in these times - corona, Afghanistan abandonment to terrorist factory, .... - is only fitting, besides being realistic.

"“Any chance Mr. Fox was accompanied by a woman who looks like a major-league ballbuster?”

"“A very good chance.” “Well, in fact, word of such an arrival did cross my phone.”

"“Where did they go?” Bourne asked.

"“They headed for the billionaires’ marina on the south side of the island. Just them, nine serious dudes, and some crates of thousand-dollar champagne.”

"“It’s not bubbly inside those crates. It’s guns.”

"Teeling shrugged. “Well, this is the Caribbean, Bourne. The curtains don’t usually match the carpet.”"

"“We’re all damaged,” Bourne said."

“What about you?” she asked. “Are you free?”

“I’m dead, which is almost the same thing. Nash wants me to stay dead for a while. It’s easier to work behind the scenes that way. In the shadows. If people don’t expect me, they don’t know I’m coming.”

Abbey frowned.

“Does that mean you’re going back to that life?”

“For now. That’s all I know. That’s who I am.”
